Confectioneiress Cupcakes
A coworker of mine and I somehow got on the topic of cupcakes yesterday and how he knew the person who ran Confectioneiress Cupcakes in Indianapolis. Since I am obsessed with cupcakes, I knew I had to give these a try.
They frequently have a stand at the Binford Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings, so my wife and I decided to try them this morning. As soon as we got there it began to rain, so unfortunately we didn’t spend much time browsing the market, but we did make sure to find the Confectioneiress Cupcake stand. They had a huge assortment of flavors (18 different kinds today). My wife went with the Orange Chocolate with orange creme filling and I chose the Key Lime with I believe lemon filling.
Let me say … WOAH are these things fantastic! I’m pretty critical when it comes to cupcakes and these did not disappoint. First off, the presentation was fancy. Most cupcake places do very little to make their cupcakes stand out. But as you can see in the photos, the attention to design definitely adds to the fun in eating these cupcakes. The icing was light … the closest to the icing at NYC’s Magnolia Bakery I’ve ever had (Magnolia’s cupcakes are unequivocally some of the best cupcakes on Earth). But Magnolia doesn’t flavor their icing beyond vanilla and chocolate, so that really gives these a step up. The icing and the cake was just packed with flavor — no blandness here. All in all these cupcakes were DELICIOUS. I have to even say I think they are the best cupcakes in Indianapolis. Yes, even better than the Flying Cupcake. I was so impressed I’m eagerly awaiting the next time I’ll be able to get some so I can try plenty more flavors to see how they all stack up.
I don’t believe they have a stand alone shop yet, but you can contact them on their website confectioneiress.com or follow them on their blog where they list when they’ll be at the Farmer’s Market and what flavors they will have (it even says you can request flavors if you’d like).
If you are anywhere near the Indianapolis area, you MUST try these cupcakes!
